i spent four full hours cleaning our little apartment kitchen. i ended the morning by making up a song about black forest cake with my roommates. you would have to have been there…i can’t really convey the beauty of it from here.
now i’m sitting in the coffee shop with three friends and the incredible Easter lily that my dad had sent to me. it came to the front desk at the prayer room. i felt unspeakably special.
in other news, tomorrow is easter. and the low is 23 degrees. can we get a prayer shield going to change the weather pattern, please?

I woke up this morning to thunder. I grabbed my phone to see how much of the day I had missed…and was thrilled to find out I’d missed more than usual.
I haven’t accomplished anything very interesting today. [It's my day off.]
i ate roast beef au jus.
i ran across a busy street in the rain.
i laughed at my sister.
i got bad news about my dog.
i wasted time looking at random blogs.
i bought something purple.
Now, I’m at my new favorite coffee shop with my sweet roommate, Carolyn. She’s reading Rewards of Fasting, which is due in three days. [I've read two chapters.] I’m soaking in the aura of high ceilings, exposed brick walls, red hardwood floors, fireplace, random music mix, leather couch, and quiet murmurs of people telling stories about homemade cheese, Rush Limbaugh, and St. Patrick’s Day adventures. Out my window, little tables and chairs are dripping wet and cars are slushing through shiny streets.
Thirty more minutes of delicious free time.
I need to go change shoes.

Wow, please don’t decide what kind of writer I am based on the post below. I just re-read it. Bleck. I’m not really sure where I was going with the fabric brightener (is there even such a thing?) analogy. Or how anyone else was supposed to figure out why a conversation about lotion and college made me feel better. Huh.
Now I’m scared to write anything else. Somehow clicking “publish” garbles everything and, on the actual blog, makes it sound trite and sappy…

A beautiful day. Hair that does right. Pretty toenail polish called “Lavender Envy.” Warm sun after too much steel-cold wind for weeks. Conversation about the wonders of lotion scents. More conversation about college experience. Laughter. Open hearts. Ten unexpected dollars in my gas tank.
Little things make up so easily for a sore throat, a sniffly nose, and an achy body. They even make up for having to stay inside during this gorgeous day.
Like fabric brightener! Brightening the good things and hiding the smudges. Or even cleaning them all away.
